Oregon
Oregon has pursued excellence with Burgundian grape varietals. Pinot Noir excells in Oregon especially in the Willamette Valley, but Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris also produce some very fine wines. The southern areas of Oregon are finding good results with Syrah, Zinfandel and other warm climate wines.
The sub-regions are: Willamette Valley, Umpqua Valley, Rogue River Valley, Applegate Valley and Southern Oregon
Willamette Valley has been further divided into several new appellations (or AVA's): Ribon Ridge, Yamhill/Carlton, McMinnville/Amity, Dundee Hills and soon to be approved Chehalem Mountains.
